Sticky Orange Tofu

Serves 8


For the tofu:

2 x(300g) blocks firm tofu

8 Tbsp cornstarch

1 tsp salt

1 tsp pepper


For the sauce:

250ml orange juice

Rind from 2 oranges

70g caster sugar

2 Tbsp rice vinegar

3 Tbsp tamari

1 tsp ginger paste or grated

1 tsp garlic paste or grated

½ tsp chilli flakes

2 Tbsp cornstarch


Method:

1. Rip tofu into nugget like pieces and place in bowl, sprinkle over cornstarch, salt and pepper and toss to coat.

2. Fry in vegetable oil over medium-high heat, turning occasionally until crispy and golden.

3. Add the orange juice, sugar, vinegar, tamari, ginger, garlic, cornstarch, chilli and orange rind to the empty frypan and simmer over medium-high heat until the sauce has thickened to a thin syrup.

4. Add tofu to the sauce and combine, then serve over rice, garnish with sliced spring onions and sesame seeds.
